About the Carl D. Perkins Grant

Perkins grant are federal funds provided through the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 for the advancement of career and technical education. Perkins is intended to develop core indicators of performance for post-secondary career and technical education programs.

 

POST-SECONDARY PERFORMANCE MEASURES FOR PERKINS CORE INDICATORS ARE:

  • 1P1: Technical Skill Attainment: Student attainment of challenging career and technical skill proficiency, including student achievement on technical assessment that is aligned with industry recognized standards, if available and appropriate.

  • 2P1: Credential, Certificate, or Diploma: Student attainment of an industry-recognized credential, certificate, or degree.

  • 3P1: Student Retention or Transfer: Student retention in postsecondary education or transfer to a baccalaureate degree program.

  • 4P1: Student Placement: Student placement in military service or apprenticeship programs or placement or retention in employment, including placement in high skill, high wage or high demand occupations or professions. 

  • 5P1: Nontraditional Participation: Student participation in Career and Technical Education programs in nontraditional fields.

  • 5P2: Nontraditional Completion: Student completion of Career and Technical Education programs in nontraditional fields.

 

 

SPECIAL POPULATIONS

Special population, as defined by Perkins IV are:

  • Individuals with disabilities

  • Individuals from economically disadvantaged families, including foster children

  • Individuals preparing for nontraditional training and employment

  • Single parents, including single pregnant women

  • Displaced homemakers

  • Individuals with other barriers to educational achievement, including individuals with limited English proficiency
